Five Alive! We can't believe it and, once again are a little ticked off that the kids keep growing up even after they PROMISED to stop getting bigger when they were 6 months old. They just refuse to listen don't they?!?! I had the hardest time finding a Star Wars cake/mold/colors/goodies so I just made a double layer chocolate cake (his choice) and found some toys to slap on there. The icing (note to self: cookie tube icing is NOT for writing) was extra thick, but I don't remember anyone complaining. In fact, Eagan said he wanted this kind of cake for his birthday (sweet, b/c it cost $5 including the cupcakes ha ha).
So, Dylan's "real" birthday included donuts for breakfast and lots of playing with Daddy and cousin Seth. He did say he wanted lots of presents, but we had to explain that his party is 6 days away. Not sure how to remedy that, so we'll just continue to make it a birthweek celebration. We even went to Golden Corral (kids love it) but all Dylan said anytime we went anywhere was, "I want to go home." Chip off the ol' block huh?
Note from an email: We let Dylan pick what or where he wanted to go for dinner. We helped out by giving him some choices. We said Chickfila with the slide or stay home and eat cake and ice cream. He chose Chickfila. So we went there and as soon as we pulled in the parking lot he threw something at Justin's head and started crying. "This is the wrong one!" He unbuckled and came and sat with Justin crying about how "This is all wrong". He pointed to me between tears and said, "You drive!" Well, once we calmed him down he said he wanted the "two slides" which means to go to the McDonald's in Westfield. It's the McDonald 2-story playland. So he got buckled up and we went there. As we were pulling in to the entrance Dylan shouted "That's the one! That's it!" and told Justin to turn in like he needed to know how to get to the parking lot! It literally felt like we were pulling into Holiday World-seriously we were all ear to ear smiles. He's been playing video games for two straight days with Seth having a blast! We can't believe he's FIVE now and going to go to school next year!
So today, we did the deed. Dylan had to get THREE shots since he's the big five. Justin was the lucky one to take Eagan and he will never forgive me of that. I figured I've done all of them up to that point it's only fair. Well, he said they don't remember and I thought- well, maybe, but you know what? The look on their faces and the decibel of their cry is all the same-breaks your heart all the same too. So once again, hit Walmart for errands and D got to pick out a donut. Reagan gets one for moral support. Her face was priceless. NOW he can go to school and he can turn SIX because he got his shots. We love that boy so so so much.

Happy birthday Dylan! No fun with the shots. I'm putting Isaac's shots off, but should just get it over with. Sounds like you had a fun birthday!
