Justin and I signed up and went a little out of our comfort zone by participating in the 10th annual Chicago Muddy Buddy Race. What's that you ask? It's 5 miles of team racing through rough terrain on foot or bike. I started the race biking while Justin ran. We both went 1 mile to an obstacle event-like balance beams, inflated slide, etc then switched from running to biking-whichever we didn't just do. We finished! We didn't die! We had fun! Oh wait...how'd we get so muddy...well the finish line is strategically located on the OTHER side of a 2ft deep mud pit which we had to crawl through on our hands and knees. We went to IKEA (first timers), had some Al's Beef after getting rear-ended and scored some free Red Hook t-shirts at the pre-party. Don't ask about the free beer we were suppose to get after the race...they ran out! But we're going next year for sure!
The kids enjoyed their time at Grandma and Grandpa's (I can't post pictures b/c they're on Walgreens but the kids went putt-putt, saw baby piggies at Great Grandpa Parkers, went swimming and had a sleepover in the treehouse (the patio upstairs with windows open all night to hear the crickets and critters). It was a great weekend!
